The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has issued a statement condemning attempts by unknown individuals to connect the gruesomely lynched Major Maxwell Mahama's father with old photos of firing squad members.
According the statement, the GAF expressed disdain over a picture circulating on social said to show the late Major Mahama's father, captain Chubby Mahama (rtd), allegedly taking part in a firing squad.
Commander Larbi, a ranking member of the GAF's Public Affairs Department, referred to the social media post and its accompanying audio file as an act of malicious intent made to bring both the aggrieved family and the GAF into disrepute.

Major Mahama was allegedly mistook for an armed robber and lynched by residents of Denkyira Obuasi on May 29th, 2017 in an attack that galvanazied the entire country to review acts of mob justice.
“GAF wishes to emphasise that the material in circulation is false and should be completely disregarded,” the statement emphasised.
