A woman left many surprised on Tuesday, June 13 at a market in Kitui town from her effort to save her starving kids.
Kamene Kakai of Museve village in Kitui Central constituency became the talk of the market and attracted a huge crowd after trying to sell a huge owl for at least KSh 250 (Ghc12), YEN.com.gh has just learnt.
Kakai said it was her only option since she couldn’t cook the bird that is mostly associated with witch craft in many communities.
“I had no choice but to bring it to the market to sell it as I cannot watch my children die of hunger,” she said.
“My children will starve to death unless someone volunteers to buy this bird. I wish I can get a buyer offering Ksh500 (Ghc22) or even Ksh1,000 (Ghc43), I will buy food to last us several days,” she told the Daily Nation.
Kakai walked over 15 km to the get to the market and hoped that after selling the bird she’ll get enough money to buy Unga which is growing expensive by the day.

YEN.com.gh can confidently state that the lady attracted a huge commotion in the market as traders watched her selling the owl.
It’s not yet clear whether she managed since trading of wild animals is prohibited by Kenya wildlife conservation laws.
