The prophet, Reindolph Oduro Gyebi, is the same clergyman who was credited with predicting the Kintampo Waterfalls disaster, which rocked the nation in March.

In an interview on Kumasi's Abusua FM, Prophet Gyebi claimed that a strange illness would afflict Abedi Pele and then kill him.

The prophet, who is the founder of the Kumasi-based God’s Crown Chapel, said Abedi Pele's friend would cast the illness on him.

Prophet Gyebi called on Abedi Pele and his family to offer prayers to pray to God to avert the curse of death, which he said was hanging over the head of the former Ghana captain.

He went on to claim that the Black Stars would suffer a disastrous plane crash in September.
