Information available to YEN indicates that a former minister of Agriculture, J.H. Owusu-Acheampong has passed away.
This was confirmed yesterday by a member of the Akwamu division of the Berekum Traditional Area.
Accordingly, the elders of the Akwamu division of the Berekum Traditional Area have been summoned to a meeting to map out a plan for the funeral rites and burial service.
In his lifetime, the late Acheampong was the Abusuapanin of the Akwamu division of Berekum.
He again served as the secretary (minister) for the Brong Ahafo region, during the era of the People’s National Defence Council (PNDC), between 1988 and 1993.

He again served as a minister of agriculture during the first term of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), during the presidency of Jerry John Rawlings.
He went on to become a majority leader in parliament, as well as a member of the Council of State during the Rawlings’ administration.
He also served as a minister of agriculture in the first term of former president Rawlings.
