Former Ghana International, Odartey Lamptey, has revealed that he nearly took his life after DNA results proved that he was not the biological father of three children he thought he had with his wife, Gloria Appiah.
The couple's 21-year marriage crashed in 2013 after the results of the DNA tests came in.
Lamptey had commissioned the tests after he suspected his wife was cheating on him.
The results of the tests shockingly confirmed his suspicion and changed his life forever.
In an interview with starrsportsgh.com, Lamptey said his world collapsed when he learnt that the three children with Gloria were not his.
He said he immediately resolved to take his own life, but God gave him the strength to carry on.
The former Ghana football star said he never thought he would have courage to face life again after that dark episode.
He called on Ghanaians never to take to take their own life, irrespective of whatever challenges they face.
Lamptey is now in a relationship with Ruweida Yakubu and together, they have two kids.
On Tuesday, an Accra court granted Lamptey divorce from Gloria after a three-year legal battle.
Lamptey largely got to keep his property, including his seven-bedroom house at East Legon in Accra.
In an interview with Accra-based Kasapa FM, he said he was finally happy to be free.
