- Sophia Akuffo was vetted by the Appointments committee on Friday
- She spoke on issues concerning the judiciary, as well as challenges facing Ghana's judicial system
- The NDC MP states the vetting process was admirable and should be the standard for future processes
Dr. Clement Apaak, the member of parliament for Builsa South, has commended the Chief Justice nominee, Sophia Akuffo for her performance during her vetting with the Appointments Committee.
Dr. Appak was speaking on TV3's New Day on Saturday, when he said the answers put forth by the chief justice hopeful, in line with the questions posed by the Appointments committee made the process 'admirable.'
"I think that while we can quibble about some of the responses, whether we are satisfied or not is another issue. I think that we must also give parliament credit because what we saw yesterday is a departure from the way it has always been done which means that we are also being innovative in looking at the way we have done this in the past. We should try and see how best we can add to that, augment it," he said.
Sophia Akuffo on Friday, faced the parliament's Appointments Committee in a grueling vetting session.
She noted there was a need for improvement regarding the working conditions of some lower court judges.
