As the world marks Father’s Day today, June 18, YEN celebrate some Black Stars players who are fathers.
Former President John Mahama dedicated today's Father's Day to late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama, the military man who was killed in the line of duty at Denkyira Obuasi in the Central Region.
The former President tweeted, “dedicating this Father's Day to Maj. Max Mahama & all servicemen who’ve fallen in the line of duty & their children robbed of daddy’s joy.”
Father's Day is celebrated to honour fathers and the influence of fathers in society.
The celebration was brought by the Spanish and Portuguese to Latin America, where March 19 is often still used for it, though many countries in Europe and the Americas have adopted the U.S. date, which is the third Sunday of June.
It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May.
Although it is celebrated on a variety of dates worldwide, many countries, including Ghana, observe the day on the third Sunday in June.
