- Nana Addo has appointed Georgina Wood as member of the council of state
- Her appointment comes after her retirement as chief justice
Former head of the supreme court, Justice Georgina Theodora Wood has been sworn in as a leading member of the council of state by president of the republic, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo.
The appointment of the former chief justice was strictly under the constitution which stipulates that the president gives way for the appointment of government’s advisory council.
What this means is that Madam Wood will be advising the president on critical issues pertaining to the country’s security and economic development.
Georgina Wood recently vacated her position as chief justice following her retirement from office. She was succeeded by Gloria Akufo who has committed to restoring dignity and integrity to the judiciary following cases of corruption which has rocked the organ over the past few years
