- NPP MP for Subin constituency accuses former MP of the area of causing problems in the area
- According to Eugene Boakye Antwi the NPP has failed to address the brewing internal issues
Member of Parliament (MP) for the Subin constituency, Eugene Boakye Antwi believes the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is too slow in dealing with internal issues, describing the party as ‘careless’.
The outspoken NPP MP has been at loggerheads with Isaac Osei, also a former MP in the Subin constituency, with the pair engaging in numerous war of words.
The relationship between the duo got even worse after Boakye Antwi became MP for the constituency during the 2016 elections, after successfully defeating Isaac Osei who was then the incumbent.
Before the 2016 elections, then NPP presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo called on both men to smoke the peace pipe, insisting they had a role to play if the party was to become a force to reckon with.
However, it appears the relationship between the pair has only escalated with Boakye Antwi claiming Isaac Osei is undermining his authority as MP of the constituency.
He accused Osei of going on to organize party meetings behind his back.
According to him, the hierarchy of the NPP has been slow to deal such internal issues, labelling the party as ‘careless’.
In his view, “what Isaac Osei is doing amounts to holding a constituency conference which he doesn’t have the power to do so.”
He further claimed that “the party is fully aware of Hon. Osei’s conduct, I‘ve reported him to John Boadu but he hasn’t done anything about it,” adding that “the NPP is a careless party, whenever there’s an issue we’ll not confront it immediately but we’ll look on until someone is attacked or killed before we get serious.”
It remains to be seen how the NPP intend to deal with both men, especially as the Subin MP looks to have stepped on some toes with his utterances.
