The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party had decried how some members of the opposition National Democratic Congress are treating John Jerry Rawlings.
According to the NPP stalwart, Rawlings is not being given enough respect in the party.
The unamused Wontumi stated that the "babies" in the NDC do not understand to to respect Rawlings, who is a "man who has surely toiled for the NDC party".
Wontumi further stated that the largest opposition party in Ghana is a birth child of Jerry Rawlings and his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings and that is it rather unfortunate how the NDC is not treating them.
Nana Konadu Agyeman, a former first lady of Ghana and matriarch of the NDC left the party to form the National Democratic Party on whose bill she stood for presidency twice.
Jerry Rawlings is also well-known for his "booming" which usually criticizes behaviour and attitudes he finds wrong in the NDC. His comments have on several times caused a negative reaction among some member of the NDC.
However, Wontumi, who was speaking on the Accra-based radio station, NEAT FM, said that the NDC should stick to the advices of Rawlings and not focus on the things outlined in the Kwesi Botchwey report.
The Kwesi Botchwey-led committee was instituted by the NDC to research what caused the defeat of the party in the 2016 General Elections.
The findings of the committee were released to the party last week.
