Addressing business leaders at the launch of an executive meeting by the International Democrat Union (IDU), the president revealed that his 5-month old administration is putting in place the needed economic policies to ensure that Ghana remains a vibrant economy not just in West Africa but also across the world.

We are determined to build a new Ghanaian civilization…breaking the shackles of the “Guggisberg” colonial economy of a producer of raw materials, and a mind-set of dependency, bailouts and extraction. It is an economy where we look past commodities to position ourselves in the global marketplace at the high end of the value chain.

Nana Addo is hoping that “Ghana becomes a country where we focus on trade, not aid, a hand-up, not a hand-out. It is a country that is governed according to the rule of law, respect for individual liberties and human rights, and the principles of democratic accountability”.

So far, government has come out with the Planting for Food and Jobs program aimed at ending food insecurity in the country and also create in excess of 750,000 jobs.
