- Government is about to aid all Ghanaians in Saudi Arabia to leave the country
- This follows a warning by the Saudi government against illegal immigrants in the area
All illegal Ghanaian immigrants staying in the Gulf States are in the process of being repatriated to Ghana, the foreign affairs ministry has revealed.
The directive by the ministry follows earlier revelations by YEN.com.gh on how Ghanaian migrants in the Gulf states are being maltreated with the females mostly suffering sexual abuses.
So far, the Saudi government has issued an ultimatum for all illegal Ghanaian immigrants staying in the country to flee or risk getting jailed by security authorities.
“Our embassy is engaging them, even it has to do with travel certificate we are slashing down the travel certificate to almost nothing in terms with the fees so they can come for it otherwise they [Saudi Arabia] are going to be very ruthless,” Shirley Ayorkor Botchway revealed in an interview with the media.
The situation regarding the maltreatment of Ghanaian migrants in the Gulf States closely follows the massive deportation of some other Ghanaian migrants in the US who may be living without the needed papers.
