According to Asamoah Gyan, who happens to be the senior national team's most prolific strikers, he met Sarah Kwablah on social media. Contrary to claims Ms Sarah Kwalbah made, the veteran Black Star skipper stated that their relations were completely consensual.

Sarah Kwablah, then a student resident around Kasoa, had made allegations in 2015 to the effect that Asamoah Gyan had sexually assaulted her. Other than outright sexual assault, Sarah Kwablah also alleged that Asamoah Gyan sodomized her, claims Asamoah Gyan has denied from the very beginning.

The senior national team striker said that although he's not proud of the fact that he cheated on his wife, he asked her for forgiveness and confessed the entire affair.

Speaking on the Delay Show, he said the entire Sarah Kwablah affair "made me change a bit in the way I interacted with my fans, but I later realized that I can’t push everybody away just because of that incident. Because some people try to get close to me for assistance or for genuine reasons.”

According to Gyan, prior to the matter going downhill his relationship with Sarah Kwablah was "very cool". "She was a very respectful girl, I don’t know if she was pretending to be a good girl at the time."

He went on to say that what happened between the two of them occurred when he went to her room around West Hills Mall after a training session.

"So how does a sexually assaulted victim come out to open the gate for me to drive out of her house?" He pondered.
