Jerry and Konadu Rawlings' wishes for the Eid-ul-fitr

- Jerry John Rawlings and wife Konadu have congratulated the Muslim community for complete the 30 day Ramadan fast period

- They've said the fasting and prayer has a cleansing effect on the community

Former president Jerry John Rawlings and his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, have sent a statement to all Muslims urging them to continue to seek Allah's blessings as they celebrate the end of the fasting period.

We pray that as you break the fast you continue to seek Allah’s guidance and blessings not only for our families, friends and communities, but for the good of Ghana so we can forge ahead as a people in peace and tranquility,” the statement said..

In their statement to the Muslim community in Ghana, the former head of statement his wife thanked the Chief Imam and the Muslim community for conscientiously committing to the fasting period.

The former first couple go on to express that the Ramadan period, the prayer and fasting has a cleansing effect on society, an further commending the Muslim community.

The prayer, sacrifice and purification that you endure throughout the month of Ramadan has a cleansing effect on whole communities and offers a renewed lease as we confront life’s many challenges," they said.
