Ghana's President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo enjoyed a heartwarming welcome from Ghanaians in Zambia on his arrival in the South African country.
Nana Addo is on a 3-day visit to the country on invitation from President Edgar Chagwa Lungu.
As part of his itinerary in the country, Nana Addo is expected to discuss ways to increase the bilateral operations between Zambia and Ghana with President Lungu.
The talks between the two presidents will reportedly also explore more areas of mutual benefits to both countries.
A report by Joy News has it that the Ghanaian community in Zambia is rather pleased with the president's visit.
The President of an association of Ghanaians in Zambia, Dave Coker, told Joy News that Ghanaians in the country were anxious for the president's visit.
He revealed that former presidents of Ghana had made promises to visit the country but never do, this Nana Addo's visit was a great one for them.
"We want to celebrate the President’s victory [in the 2016] elections,” he said.
The report continued that one of the main things on the mind of Ghanaians in Zambia is their desire to return to Ghana.
The president is accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway MP, and officials of the Presidency and the Foreign Ministry and is expected to return to Ghana by Thursday, 29th June 2017.
