Checks by YEN.com.gh show that the reason for the ban is due to the lack of tracking systems for the produce of these agricultural products that Ghana tends to be exporting to the country.

Speaking to Joy FM, the deputy minister for trade, Carlos Ahenkorah revealed that government is currently investigating the matter and that steps are in place to begin talks with the Chinese government over the development.

This decision by the Chinese government, if true, follows the ban on agricultural produce to the EU market due to concerns over the safety and wholesome nature of such products.

Meanwhile, the trades ministry is of the belief that the ban on exports to EU nations will be lifted by September this year as it engages farmers on how best to position themselves in making the produce very competitive and safe for use.
