- The Konkombas in the Northern Regional wing of the NPP are upset at the party's leadership
- They have threatened to attack the party's facilities
- The NPP chairman says they feel cheated and deceived as they were promised DCE appointments
Daniel Bugri Naabu, the Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party has hinted at heightened tensions among members of the party who are natives of the Konkomba area, if one of them is not appointed into a government position.
According to Bugri Naabu, the Konkombas are upset that they have not yet been rewarded with district positions as was promised if they offered their support.
According to a Class FM report, Mr. Naabu stated: "In Gushegu, Konkombas are threatening to attack our party facilities and destroy them because they feel deceived and cheated. It was an agreement [among] them and the Vice President and the regional chairman and even the President that if they should vote for the MP to win, the Konkombas would be appointed as DCE"
He noted that the Konkombas feel 'deceived' as some people have been given top appointments in the area, while they have not seen one of their own appointed as a district chief executive.
In lieu of the situation, Mr. Naabu said he would request a meeting at the presidency, to find a solution that would be most aggreeable to everyone.
Bugri Naabu has also indefinitely suspended the confirmation process for the DCE nominees for the Mamprusi, Gushegu and Bunkprugu districts.
