This 17-year-old was sadly shot during a post-Ramadan Salah jam at Kumasi

Eid-ul-fitr celebrations at Manhyia, Kumasi in the Ashanti Region were marred after a 17-year-old boy was shot.

The teenager, identified as Osman Abdukari sustained gun wounds after being targeted by unknown assailants who fired at him.

According to a report by Citi News, the young boy had gone to the venue to have some fun with his friends only to be met with such unfortunate fate.

Chief Superintendent at the Manhyia Police Divisional command, Kwaku Buah confirmed that the victim was currently receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Narrating the incident, the Police Commander said, “yesterday at around 7:30pm I received information concerning the incident. This guy is about 17-years-old, someone who had just completed JHS and had gone to the place with others to have fun and this unfortunate incident happened."

"He is now on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, he is not dead", he stated.

He added that although no arrests had yet been made, the Police was still on the lookout for the perpetrators of the crime.

This comes after some 17 other people lost their lives in a stampede at Asawase, also in the Ashanti Region during a separate Eid-ul-fitr climax jam.

The stampede is reported to have happened after an electric metre caught fire, sparking panic among the people, who in an attempt to escape created a chaotic scene.
