- Samira Bawumia has called for pragmatic measures to put out poverty in Ghana
- The second lady engaged in talks with officials from the poverty reduction centre in China
Second lady of Ghana's republic is not leaving anything to chance especially when it comes to the eradication of poverty in Ghana.
Following her husband - the vice president - to China for bilateral talks, Samira Bawumia took the opportunity to solicit for support from officials of the Chinese republic and also members of the International Poverty Reduction Centre in China (IPRCC).
In a heart warming speech to members of the organisation, Samira Bawumia called on the need for stakeholders and international partners to end the menace of poverty in Ghana and across Africa. This she claims is of importance to her as a mother and second lady of Ghana's republic.
“I need your support in the fight against poverty in the world, especially in Ghana," she told the officials.
The move by Samira Bawumia follows a similar but ground breaking one by the vice president who was able to secure in excess of $15 billion from the Chinese government for the establishment of the one-district-one-factory policy.
