Former president Flt Lt Jeremiah John Rawlings has embarked on a campaign to raise support for World War II veterans and other senior citizens who contributed their quota to Ghana’s political history.
This was the highlight of a lunch hosted in honour of some veterans and senior citizens who paid a courtesy call on him to wish him well on his 70th birthday.
Some of the veterans who were in attendance the programme at the Labadi Beach Hotel included Staff Sergeant Clement Adranu, Ex-Warrant Officer Class One Banini, Lance Corporal Jonas Awutei, Corporal George Antwi, Corporal Yaw Asare, Private Kpakpo Mingle, Private Samuel Asamoah and Private Ashitei Hammond.
Rawlings, who was in with his wife, children, other family members and friends, as well as the first lady, Rebecca Akufo Addo, said he was happy to have had the opportunity to share his birthday with national heroes.
The veterans reciprocated the kind wishes by expressing their appreciation to Rawlings for the honour done them.
