I’ll tune off my radio if I ‘catch’ my kids listening to ‘bad' rappers – Obrafour

Ghana’s all time heavy-weight rapper, Michael Kwabena Okyere Darko also known as Obrafour has decried the diminishing of good lyrical content being produced in the recent music industry.

According to him, he will rather switch off his radio and television than allowing his kids listen to ‘negative influenced-songs’ churn out by ‘bad desperate’ rappers of our time.

To him, lyrical contents in songs are the important part of every good music; therefore it has impact on listeners whether good or bad.

He therefore called on musicians and song writers to incorporate into their songs good lyrical content that will make it safer to be enjoyed in every home.

“I see it as an embarrassing to allow my kids listen to some of these contemporary music being played on radio. I’ll rather tune off the radio than allow them to listen,” the Ghana’s rap priest said in an interview.

The legendary Obrafour, also bemoaned some radio stations for playing songs with lyrical content that is not ‘hygienic’ for public consumption.

“Ghanaian songs today critically lack good lyrical content as compared to previous,” he lamented. Adding that, “any good music produced must be able to impact positively on its listeners”.
