As Ghana celebrates its 57th Republic Day, it is a time for Ghanaians to reflect on the political strides the country has made since it began its republican status in 1960.
As with every national holiday, former and current heads of state and sometimes government officials send messages of goodwill to the people to observe the significance of the day being celebrated.
Former President John Dramani Mahama took to his Facebook page, to wish the Ghanaian citizenry a happy 57th Republic Day.
In his message, the former president acknowledged the sacrifices of Ghanaians over the years, especially the older generation for their immense contributions to the country.
The former president further urged Ghanaians to move ahead in unity and love, adding that the people should avoid discrimination while being fully dedicated to God and Ghana.
The former first lady, Lordina Mahama also took to her Twitter page to wish all Ghanaians a Happy Republic Day.
