- The BOST MD has been under pressure to resign from his position
- Asamoah Gyamfi has urged President Akufo-Addo to not jump to the defense of the MD
- He says if Mr. Obeng Boateng is not dismissed from his position, it will negatively impact the NPP in 2020
A member of the New Patriotic Party, Asamoah Gyamfi has said the director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transport needs to be dismissed from his position.
According to the NPP member, the director's actions goes against the principles of the Akufo-Addo administration, hence it was imperative that he be forced out of his position if he refuses to resign.
Mr.Gyamfi argued that the BOST director still holding his position, will be viewed as a mockery of the promises made to Ghanaians by the NPP government.
"If I were the president, I will ask the BOST MD to resign or I will sack him. He has gone contrary to the promises Akufo Addo made to save the public purse. We promised to put an end to sole sourcing but Alfred Obeng has done it so he must go. The president should not shield him or will be subject to mockery by the Ghanaian public," he said on Asempa FM on Saturday.
Mr. Gyamfi said that he had urged his fellow party members to not stand in defense of the BOST MD, as it it will look like the government is nonchalant about corruption in the country.
He stated it was necessary that the citizenry is shown that the government has integrity, else they would have challenges come the 2020 election year.
Earlier this week, the BOST institution has been the center of media reports following the alleged sale of about 5 million litres of contaminated fuel to Movenpiina Energy.
On Friday, there were reports that the BOST boss, Alfred Obeng Boateng had turned in his letter of resignation and had left his post.
However, a spokesperson for the MD has debunked these claims, stating Mr. Obeng Boateng was still at his position.
