- The musician is interested in being elected as chairman of the NPP in the Gomoa Central district
- He openly declared his support for the NPP during the 2016 elections
- The incumbent chairman has been elevated to the office of District Chief Executive in the district
Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly referred to as A Plus, has declared his intention to test the waters outside music.
Though known in political circles as a sympathizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), he has, in a recent social media post, declared his attention to vie for the chairmanship position of the NPP at Gomoa Central in the central region.
This revelation, is perhaps on the heels of the news that the incumbent chairman, Benjamin Kojo Otoo, has been accepted as the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the same district.
Kwame A Plus, has revealed that he met with the district executives of the party to formally declare his intention to run, and seek for their support in that endeavor.
He had, just before the 2016 elections, openly declared his support for the party.
A Plus’ intention to venture into full time politics follows such calls by celebrities in the past, one of such being that of actor David Dontoh, who earlier in the past, expressed interest in contesting for presidency, as an independent candidate.
