- Some NPP members have been protesting the appointments of district executives at the grassroots of the party
- The Tafo-Prankono MP has called on the president and the NPP leadership to discipline the unruly members
- He argued that the constant protests of party appointments were unacceptable
The Minister of Policy, Monitoring and Evaluation, Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei has urged President Akufo-Addo and the leadership of the New Patriotic Party to call their unruly members to order.
According to him, the protests against the recent appointments in the lower branches of the party by members were a cause for concern.
"Some groups or individuals in the party are rising against authority because persons of their choice have not been appointed. The party hierarchy needs to rise up and discipline those indiscipline guys," Dr. Osei stated.
According to a Graphic Online report, the minister argued that it was necessary to instill some form of discipline in the party, especially if the leadership was being questioned.
He is not the only NPP member to share these sentiments, as the constituency chairman for Pankrono in the Ashanti Region, has said the rise in protests against appointments in the lower branches of the party, are due to unfulfilled expectations of the members.
The chairman, Mr. Moses Kwame Donkor however asked party members who were displeased with the flow of authority in the party to remain calm, and rather focus on supporting the president to attain his goals.
Meanwhile, the NPP member of parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene-Agyapong has warned members of the party that if their attempts at ruining his business are not stopped, he will bring down the party.
"If you are not mindful with people who helped you in securing power and you give them this reward. I mean those NPP members who have vowed to collapse my businesses. I’m warning them for the last time, If they joke, I will be the first to bring the NPP down before I’m disgraced," he said.
He further stated he is confident that all plots against him will fail.
