-A party member of the NDC has alleged that Rawlings was scheming to cause the party to remain in opposition forever
-The Party member said Rawlings had succeeded in getting some party members to buy into his ideas
-He added that the founding father of the party was devising means to gain controlling position in the party
A party member of opposition party NDC speaking on the condition of anonymity has said that Jerry John Rawlings is working to ensure that the party remained in “perpetual opposition” at the advantage of the NPP.
Speaking to the Al-Hajj newspaper, the party guru revealed that worked closely with Rawlings in the past to know that he was not acting in the interest of the party. He said that it was speculated that the former president worked against the NDC in the 2016 General Elections which led to the party’s defeat.
He added that ever since the defeat of the NDC Rawlings has been working closely with the party and has vilified ex-President John Mahama and some party executives for causing the humiliating defeat of the NDC to the NPP.
He said that Rawlings was working his way to gain top spot in the party and ensure that they never came back to power.
He indicated that former President Rawlings’ call for an overhaul in the party and the way in which he has all of a sudden formed some sort of close alliance with President Akufo-Addo makes it obvious that he does not have the interest of the NDC at heart.
He added that during his 70th birthday celebration, he was seen cutting his cake with the First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo.
He added that Rawlings had managed to get some party bigwigs to buy into his idea of making the party great again and has managed to turn them into his defenders anytime he says anything about the party.
The party guru however revealed that those who were in support of Mr. Rawlings and had shifted camp to his side are dong the party no good since the person they are defending does not have the general interest of the party at heart.
