- He claims some members of the NPP are involved in the illegal mining business
- He stated that the government had distributed the lands to its members
- An official of the NPP countered by tracing the root of menace to the "Youth in Mining" model introduced by the NDC
An official in the main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has hinted that members of the ruling government are involved in illegal mining activities in Ghana.
Kwaku Boahen, the Deputy National Communications Officer of the opposition NDC, again stated that people affiliated with the current administration are looting the state’s resources.
He again noted that that the media campaign against illegal mining is a farce, as the government has distributed mining lands amongst its members.
These people, according to him, are engaged in the illegal mining activities.
However, the first vice chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Omar Bodinga, countered the allegations and stated that the NDC is responsible for the menace.
He believes the “Youth In Mining” model introduced by the NDC is the root cause.
