- The authenticity of Nana Addo’s garments has been questioned by the textiles union
- The union is threatening to demonstrate over the lack of jobs in the industry
President of the republic, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has come under severe criticism for allegedly wearing and displaying fake local textiles in the seat of the presidency.
This was after the general secretary of the textile, garment and leather employees’ union, Abraham Koomson, revealed that the very textiles sewn for the president are either fake of have been smuggled into the country.
“For all you know the Ministry of Trade buys the China print for him and he does not inspect it and goes to sew it and wears it, thinking it’s printed locally. This is what is happening, I wish I could examine what he wears to see if its authentic local print…but I doubt it is,” he revealed in an interview with Asempa FM.
Meanwhile, the union is planning of picketing on the ministry of trade come July 13 to drive home their concerns over they not being granted jobs.
