Former MP responds to Kennedy Agyapong's claims over 2016 NPP political victory

- Mr Henry Kwabena Kokofu says NPP win was thanks to the Lord Almighty

- He says he doesn't think anyone out there could believe Hon. Kennedy Agyapong's allegations about the ruling party

- He said his party will take necessary action to address members who go out of line

Former Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bantama Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Henry Kwabena Kokufu has stated that the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) 2016 electoral victory was the work of the Lord Almighty.

Recent reports have had it that the firebrand NPP MP for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong hinting that his party achieved last year's landslide political victory by some - yet to be revealed - dubious manner.

Responding Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong's comment, former Bantama MP Mr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu said that last year's momentous could only have been possible by the hand of God "who makes everything possible.

I do not think you sitting there as a journalist or a taxi driver or market woman listening to me this morning will believe claims by Kennedy Agyapong that NPP and Nana Akufo-Addo did not win the 2016 polls," said the former MP.

Giving his opinions of last year's NPP electoral victory, Mr. Kokofu stated that the Ghanaian people voted against the erstwhile Mahama led NDC administration and brought the NPP from opposition due to corruption and economic difficulties.

Mr. Kokofu added that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo is aware that Ghanaians were still suffering hardships but asked Ghanaians to "exercise some restraint as government is putting better economic policies in place".

He added that members of the party ought to remain calm, and that the party would eventually deal with party members who decide to go overboard.
