- Former Finance Minister donates money to winners of 2017 NSMQ
- Dr Duffour is a former student of Prempeh College
Former Finance Minister and founder of EIB Network, Dr Kwabena Duffour has presented winners of the 2017 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) with an amount of GHc 25,000.
Prempeh College emerged victors in this year’s competition after beating both St. Thomas Aquinas and Adisadel College.
The three students who represented Prempeh, together with the school’s headmaster and other officials, were subsequently invited to lunch by Dr Duffour at the Tang Palace Hotel.
The former finance minister – who happens to be an old student of Prempeh College – donated an amount of GHc 25,000 to the headmaster of the school on behalf of the students.
He also had some words of encouragement for the contestants, advising that they continue to keep their heads up, as they move up the ladder of life.
The contestants were further presented with an amount of GHc 5,000 by the 2001 year group of Prempeh College students.
Prempeh’s victory in the 2017 NSMQ represents their fourth triumph overall in the annual quiz competition.
