Asamoah Gyan on Saturday received recognition for his exploits on the football field from an unlikely source - a university in Ukraine.
The Alfred Noble University in Ukraine awarded him an honorary doctorate degree for his contribution to the development of Ghana.
The award also recognised Gyan for the spectacular football career he has had for over 15 years.
The star footballer received the award at a ceremony at KNUST.
Gyan, who recently scored his 51st goal for Ghana, expressed gratitude to the university for the honour.
He said was happy with the recognition and that it would encourage him to work even harder.
Gyan excitedly shared the news on Twitter and suggested that he was thrilled to be a doctor.
