- Boxer 'Game Boy' Tagoe has threaten to beat journalist, Countryman Songo for insulting Black Stars captain Gyan
- The boxer said he will not entertain Songo's insults
Ghanaian boxer Emmanuel ‘Game Boy’ Tagoe has threatened to beat up Countryman Songo for making some disparaging comments about him.
Songo – whose real name is Patrick Osei Agyemang – is a popular figure on radio with his ‘Fire for Fire’ show commanding very huge listenership.
The radio presenter has, however, always generated a lot of controversy with his approach to issues.
Last week Songo came under the spotlight after downplaying the achievements of Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan.
On the Thursday edition of his show, he called into question the commitment of Gyan, sparking a rebuttal from the striker, who also labelled the TV presenter “a joke”.
However, Songo has now also drawn the ire of boxer Emmanuel Tagoe who has threatened to beat him up following some disparaging comments he made.
Songo is reported to have said that the boxer is not as good as many think, suggesting he only faces cheap opponents.
His comments seem not to have gone down well with the IBO lightweight champion, who has warned that he might be forced to physically engage the presenter if he (Songo) continues to direct disrespectful words at him.
Tagoe told Rainbow Sports: “That Country Man Songo who sit on radio and television to insult people with the aim of entertaining people; he speaks anyhow and attacks people without respect.
“If my boss BabyJet due to respect has not responded to his utterances due to his [BabyJet’s] level; if he insults the likes of the coach of the Black Stars and they don’t mind him, he should not bring that to my doorstep.
“We the boxers are crazier than he [Songo] is. He should not be insulting me on his show and claim that I am not strong. If I am weak, can he fight me? We the boxers are crazier than he is.
“I will not entertain his insults. He smokes 'wee' to behave the way he does and aside from that, he gets people to support him. He should concentrate on the Black Stars, he should not do that to boxers.
“I don’t blame him; I blame those who gave him the opportunity to host their show. I will beat him wherever I meet him.”
Emmanuel Tagoe is currently under Asamoah Gyan’s BabyJet Promotions.
