Parliament is expected to summon the Agric minister, Dr. Afriyie Akoto, following the severity of the fall army worm infestation which is feared to have affected hundreds of thousands of farmlands across the country.
The Agric minister has over the past weeks argued that the fall army infestation has been duly contained by his ministry but independent investigations show that the attack continue to eat up millions of crops across the country especially those in the rural regions.
The summons of the minister follows a question filed by the member of parliament for Mion constituency, Mohammed Abdul Aziz over the practical steps that government is employing to end the menace of the bug in the agric sector.
Meanwhile, the agric minister is reported to be currently out of the country and that expected to make his way back into town by the end of the week.
