- The situation has adversely affected teaching and learning
- Some students have gone home to seek medical attention
- Mawuli Senior High School suffered a similar fate last year
Reports reaching YEN indicate that an army of bedbugs are making life uncomfortable for staff and students of Keta Senior High School.
The situation, according to information received, appears to have been taken lightly by both the school authorities and the regional directorate.
The situation had allegedly led to an unbearable life on campus, as students have resorted to sleep in classrooms. This has therefore adversely affected academic work.
The bugs are said to be rapidly multiplying, are also seen in classrooms and at times, exercise books.
According to a worried parent, students now have no choice but to leave the school and seek medical attention.
Reports give the impression that there is yet to be an indication of an attempt to take measures such as fumigation.
The regional director of education, however, allegedly played down the seriousness of the issue, stating that the presence of bedbugs in a second cycle institution is no new story.
He added that anyone who needs clarification on the matter, should simply ask for it.
Mawuli Senior High School is reported to have suffered a similar fate last year.
