Kwesi Pratt, the managing editor of the Insight newspaper, has praised President Nana Akufo-Addo for his campaign against illegal mining (galamsey).
Akufo-Addo recently vowed to put an end to galamsey even if it will cost him his presidency.
His pledge to end the practice, which is known to destroy the environment and water bodies, has drawn praise from many Ghanaians, including Pratt.
The veteran journalist was quoted by mynewsgh.com as saying that Nana Akufo-Addo deserves commendation.for his galamsey stand.
Pratt, a critic, of Akufo-Addo said the president had won his respect for the move.
He said Ghana needed leaders like Akufo-Addo to take the country forward.
Pratt stated ahead of the 2016 election that he would not voted for the NPP.
Speaking on Accra-based Peace FM, the newspaper editor said at the time that he would be a big fool to support the NPP to win the election.
He explained that he had received death threats from some faceless sympathisers of the NPP, who he said had threatened to bury him alive when they won power.
Pratt said it would be foolish for him to support the NPP to win power, a move he said would enable the NPP folks to carry out their threats to kill him.
