The Kotoko team bus has been involved in a ghastly motor accident at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region.
The accident, involving 35 players and team officials, occurred on Wednesday night when the team was returning to its base in Kumasi after losing 1-0 to Inter Allies in a premier league fixture.
The bus is said to have crashed into a truck that had broken down by the side of the road.
The truck, which was carrying bags of rice, reportedly did not have any reflectors or warning signs to indicate that it had broken down on the road.
The management of Kotoko confirmed the accident on Twitter, saying that some of its players were being treated at the Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw.
Some unconfirmed social media reports suggested that the Kotoko equipment officer, George Asare, lost his life in the accident.
On social media, Ghanaians have been commiserating with the team.
