Solomon Nyantakyi, the Italy-born Ghanaian footballer accused of killing his mother and sister, has reportedly confessed to the crime.
Italian police quoted the rising football star as saying that he stabbed his mother, Patience Nyantakyi Mfum, and his sister, Magdalene Nyantakyi, to death.
“It is true that I killed my mother and little sister with a knife. I stabbed them several times and it happened in our apartment yesterday (Tuesday),” police quoted him as saying.
Nyantakyi was arrested while trying to escape after committing the crime.
His brother, Raymond, is said to have raised an alarm after returning home to find his mother and sister dead.
A report by FMG quoted Godfred Adofo, a former teammate of Nyantakyi at Parma, as saying that drugs and bad company caused the young footballer to kill his family members.
Adofo described Nyantakyi as a very talented who could play with both legs.
He said it was sad that he had allowed his life to be ruined by bad company and drugs.
