- A chief police officer is calling on police officials to pull out guns against armed robbers
- COP Christian Tetteh Yohonu says the police is prepared to come out hard against hardened criminals
Following the killing of a police officer at Lapaz in Accra, the director general in charge of police operations, COP Christian Tetteh Yohonu, has called on all police officers to not renege on shooting down robbers who pull out guns on them.
The warning by the chief police officer follows the shooting of a security officer at Lapaz in Accra by two Nigerian armed robbers who succeeded in snatching a Hyundai Sonata.
Security analyst, Kwesi Anning is predicting more bouts of violence in the country if government fails to equip security officials with the needed tools and gadgets to keep them armed against trouble makers.
"We will descend heavily on armed robbers. We have sensitized our men to deal with armed robbers. We have charged our men to deal with any armed robber who tries their patience …..We are prepared for fire for fire,” the police officer warned.
Meanwhile, government has assured Ghanaians of an improved security system at all public places so as to forestall any occurrences as that which happened on the streets of Lapaz in Accra.
