A renowned 77-year-old man of God from Florida died from bullet wound almost 60 years later after he was shot. .

Medical examination confirmed that Pastor John Henry Barrett passed on as a result of infections related to a gunshot wound he got when he was 19 years old.

“The shooting in 1958 damaged his spinal cord, leaving him paralyzеd. He has had to walk with the help of a cane,” reports Palm Beach Post.

Barrett reportedly served as a pastor at the New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church for close to 30 years. He was also a former executive director of Pahokee Housing Authority.

The man of God allegedly got shot during a fight with a friend. The unidentified friend was reportedly thrown behind bars for the attempted murder.

Interestingly, Pastor Barrett, according to his close relatives, never liked talking about the shooting incident that left him disabled.

“He always preferred not to dwell on what happened. He wanted people to treat him just like a normal person and not as a disabled member of the society,” says Terrance Lee, his nephew.
