- Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong has defended his criticisms of the Akufo-Addo government
- He said the NPP would lose the next election if they did not focus on delivering on their promise to Ghanaians
- He said the BOST fuel saga was orchestrated by the NDC as an attack on the current director
The Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has said his recent outbursts at the New Patriotic Party are not motivated by ill intentions towards government, but to ensure they do not fail to deliver on their promises to Ghanaians.
According to him, the government has not made any impressive progress in its first few months in power, hence his criticisms are meant to keep the government on its toes.
He stated that the NPP may not get a second term if they continue to fall for the manipulations by the opposition National Democratic Congress.
According to a report by Starr FM, Mr. Agyapong accused past officials of the NDC government for orchestrating the recent contaminated oil scandal.
He lamented that the current director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transport company is under fire in the scandal due to his refusal to sell the contaminated fuel to NDC-affiliated persons at a lower rate.
Mr. Agyapong was addressing a group of delegates at the Central Region Delegates Conference in Assin Fosu, when he accused members of the NDC in the oil business of intentionally contaminating the fuel, in order to be able to buy the fuel at lower prices.
“Between February 2015 and February 6, 2016, there were 49 transactions of contaminated fuel at BOST which NDC sold to themselves at cheap prices and because the new Managing Director stood his ground not to sell it to them at that ridiculous prices, the NDC guys set a trap for him and NPP is also falling for it blindly,” he said.
Mr. Agyapong further bemoaned the list of newly appointed ambassadors of the country, whereby not one individual from his stronghold was selected.
He opined that it would not serve the party well, and urged the delegates and residents to demand what is due them since they were a key factor in the victory of the NPP.
