Two suspected armed robbers who allegedly attacked and robbed an Israeli businessman at East Legon in Accra are currently in the grips of the Police.
The pair, identified as Senusi Zibo and Abudu Mohammed, are reported to have robbed an Israeli businessman of his bag, which contained an amount of GH¢4,030, a mobile phone and other personal items.
The incident which happened last Friday saw both men launch an attack on the businessman, forcing him to open his car at knife point.
However, both suspects have been arrested by the police, with the help of a taxi driver.
The two men were knocked down by the said taxi driver after they attempted to escape on a motorbike.
The taxi driver subsequently raised an alarm, prompting the youth of the area to chase down the armed robbers. They were both apprehended and nearly lynched, but for the timely intervention of the police.
Briefing the media on the issue, the PRO of the Accra Regional Police, ASP Efia Tenge said Zibo and Mohammed approached the victim, who had parked his car to receive a call, and told him he had a flat tyre.
She revealed that the suspects pulled a knife immediately the victim got out of his car and threatened to stab him if he refused to hand them his bag which lied at the back seat of the car.
ASP Tenge narrated that both men quickly sped off after taking the bag but were given a hot chance by a taxi driver who witnessed the scene.
The driver followed them and knocked them down, before raising an alarm to draw the attention of onlookers.
The two suspects were chased and apprehended by the youth of the area, before being handed to the police.
Both Zibo and Mohammed are currently in police custody.
