Kotoko mark one-week celebration for departed official

-Kumasi Asante Kotoko has marked the one week celebration of their deputy equipment officer who passed away due to their fatal accident last Wednesday

-In attendance were officials, players and some fans of the club

-The accident that took the life of the club’s official occurred in Nkawkaw

Family, friends and well-wishers of Thomas Obeng Asare, the deputy equipment officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko have marked the one week celebration after his passing.

Many people gathered at the family residence of the Premier League Club’s official to mourn with the bereaved family.

According to the Head of Communications for the football club, Obed Acheampong, the solemn ceremony was held at Esereso, opposite Divine Mercy Hospital, Kumasi. It started at 6 A.M.

Some of the attendees of the ceremony included officials from the club, some players of the porcupine warriors and some fans of the club as well.

Thomas Obeng Asare lost his life last week Wednesday after the official team bus of the Ghana Premier League side, Kumasi Asante Kotoko collided into a truck which was loaded with fertilizer.

The accident is believed to have occurred off the Nkawkaw main bypass road at around 9:45 P.M that night.

Many of the occupants of the bus were injured and were hospitalized at the Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw. Some of the injured were later transferred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

Head Coach of the side, Steven Pollack had to undergo some knee surgery after the accident.

Unfortunately for the accident victims, some of the people who came to their aid at the accident site made away with some of their valuables including mobile phones, laptops and money.
