The driver of the ill – fated Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s team bus, Nana Berchie, has finally revealed the exact details of what transpired the on the night of the accident.
The bus is reported to have collided into a stationery vehicle, whilst on its way to Kumasi, after a match with Inter Allies in Accra.
The incident, which occurred on the Nkawkaw – Kumasi highway, claimed the life of the deputy equipment officer of the club, Thomas Kofi Asare.
Players and other officials were injured.
Berchie, who was rendered unconscious after the incident, was admitted to the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital.
He has however regained consciousness, and revealed how the unfortunate event occurred.
According to him, the bus was overtaken by a vehicle.
The highlights of the said vehicle obstructed his vision, and before he could appropriately steer the bus away, it collided into a truck which appeared to have suddenly stopped in front of the bus.
