Police in the Takoradi-Sekondi Metroplis have apprehended a self-purported "Man of God" accused of defrauding multiple victims out of what is suspected to be hundreds of thousands of Ghana Cedis.

According to myjoyonline.com's report, Apostle Joel Amenu is suspected to have been the brains behind an extensive array of fraudulent scams in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis.
Reports have it that many people flocked to the police station in order to lodge their complaints once they heard of Apostle Joel Amenu's arrest.
It's been alleged that Apostle Joel Amenu had defrauded some of his victims - including institutions - by saying that he would be able to give them "soft loans" for different reasons. He's also alleged to have told some of his victims that he would give their children scholarships.

Police say that the self-styled "Man of God" has been arrested for operating an illegal micro finance scheme, and also issuing dud checks to victims, who comprise mostly of market traders, and hotel operators.
It has also been alleged that Apostle Joel Amenu operated an NGO by the name of Mary Ekem Foundation with a woman alleged to be his girlfriend, who happens to be called Mary Ekem. Apostle Amenu is also alleged to have used the names of both former president Mahama and that of Nana Akuffo Addo to bump up his integrity.
According to some of his victims, Apostle Amenu allegedly charged a fee of GHC150 as a "processing" fee for those applying for one of his scholarships.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic newspaper, Takoradi Police Commander, Superintendent Peter Ofori Donkor stated that Apostle Joel Amenu was currently in police custody, and that victims were still lodging complaints.
