According to local media reports, the infants were also born underweight, sparking speculations on their survival even among medics.
The twin's mother identified as Shona went into labour at just seven months, and medics intimated that they could not save the toddlers.
Wonderfully, in spite of her waters breaking and compressions beginning the tots did not arrive.
As the clock struck midnight they were given a hint of something to look forward to.
The pregnancy had achieved 23 weeks - one week short of the 24-week legitimate point of confinement for premature births in England and Wales.
Specialists said they were ready to intercede and there was a remote possibility they could spare them.
