Meet brave woman who shares an inspirational message as a cancer survivor (photos)

In 2009, the 52-year-old actress Vanessa Bell Calloway was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Before Calloway knew that she had cancer, something's telling her that there was something strange in her body.

Then, she set an appointment with her physician even she was not in pain.

Calloway took every test her physician could do from CAT scan and blood test.

She even took mammogram examination.

Two days later, she received a call from the nurse and said there was suspicious calcification in her right breast and her radiologist also spotted some white spots on her x-ray results at the same area.

According to her biopsy report, Calloway had breast cancer which is still stage zero.

and diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma in Situ.

At first, she was confident that she will be cured within two weeks by undergoing a lumpectomy rather than mastectomy. So, Calloway only told her situation to her husband and some friends.

After two surgeries, her doctor called her and said that the results of her test weren’t good.

Calloway called her husband asking for the confirmation of the result while still hoping that what she heard was not true.

She said, “That was the day I was maddest.”

Calloway had a hard time to accept the truth about her condition but his husband and her sister cheered her up and they reminded, “it’s just a breast. Let it go.”

She then told everybody in the family about her condition.

Before the surgery, she attended her daughter’s homecoming.

That time she said, “I didn’t want to miss life. I decided cancer was not going to ruin me.”

The 12-hour surgery was successful and she recovered after several weeks.

Now, Vanessa Bell Calloway has been cancer free.

She leaves an inspirational message “Anytime you go through anything so emotional, you learn a lot.”

She felt very grateful and blessed.

She also added, “Don’t take life for granted. Take care of yourself.”
