Speaking with local TV network, Joy TV, Michael Mensah, the MCE for Kasoa said only cement structures were left standing but bare after the fire died down.
He informed the TV network that the fire started with two shops at around 1:30AM and started spreading quickly to nearby structures.
The Kasoa area is full of several authorised buildings which reportedly hampered the quick response of the Ghana National Fire Service to douse the fire.
However, residents of the area tried to douse the fire unsuccessfully before the GNFS personnel arrived around 2:30AM.
The firefighters had to break down some wooden structures so as to be able to reach the raging blazes.
Currently, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
