- Charlotte Osei claims she prevented Ghana from war in the 2016 elections
- The EC boss insists all allegations leveled against her are false
Chairperson of the electoral commission, Charlotte Osei, has revealed that Ghana was seriously polarized during the 2016 elections.
Responding to claims made against her concerning the abuse of power, the EC boss revealed that the country was nearly plunged into a civil war by the main parties in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and also the New Patriotic Party (NPP) before and during the elections.
Charlotte Osei reveals that she had to immediately step in to constantly get in touch with the presidential candidates of both parties as a Returning Officer during the elections - a move, she believes, saved the country from chaos.
In a report, Charlotte Osei stated that she liaised with the security on a constant basis to ensure that the security of Ghana is secured.
Meanwhile, parliament is expected to summon Charlotte Osei over many claims and allegations leveled against her by an unknown group of EC workers who are petitioning the president to start an impeachment process against her.
