It’s been 5 years since the death of the former president John Evans Atta Mills and yet the scramble for remains lingers on.
Queen mother of Ekumfi Otuam, the very town in which the late President Mills was born is requesting for his remains to be given a befitting burial in his birth place.
According to Nana Anyinfuah III, the late president’s soul can only rest in peace if his body is exhumed from the Asomdwe Park and relocated to his hometown as culture and tradition demands.
The 5th anniversary, which was held at the “Asomdwe” Park,in Accra, saw some key members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) pay their respects to the former president through the laying of wreaths at his tomb.
Meanwhile, some family members of the former president are pushing for a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to his death as they claim to have suspected some foul play on the part of unknown persons.
