The Nana Addo administration is set to prosecute some former appointees of the erstwhile John Mahama government who allegedly engaged in various acts of corruption.
The Today Newspaper reports that the current administration started planning of how to prosecute some corrupt members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) even before it won power during the 2016 elections.
During President Akufo-Addo’s encounter with the media last week, he did mention of the fact that government was doing its best to gather enough evidence to prosecute all corrupt officials of the erstwhile government.
According to the Today Newspaper, the president has already held talks with Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo-Maafo, on how to go about the whole exercise without making it look like witch hunting in the eyes of the public.
The report further states that some prominent members of the erstwhile NDC government – numbering over 20 – have already been penciled to be investigated and subsequently prosecuted.
They include former ministers, Members of Parliament, Presidential Staffers and some relatives of ex-president Mahama.
The paper also mentions some office holders during the Mahama administration like the CEO of National Health Authority Sylvester Mensah, former minister of Transport Dzifa Attivor and former CEO of Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Sedinam Tamakloe Attinou, as persons who would soon be investigated.
Former Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, MP for Bawku Central Mahama Ayariga, as well as some popular presidential staffers, are all reportedly under the radar of the NPP government.
The Today newspaper reports that the Economic Management team, led by vice-president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, have already started reviewing contracts of the erstwhile NDC government in order to bring corrupt officials to book.
